About the Designer
Ileah M. Cook - Designer
I am the mother of 5 amazing daughters and the grandmother of 3 boys and a one little girl. I started sewing 20 years ago after the birth of my identical twins when I wanted them to look like a pair, but not be dressed exactly alike. Over the years, I have sewn dresses, costumes for plays, party gowns, and even brides maid dresses. Now it's time for something fun. I've chosen aprons because I feel they embody the heart and soul of what it means to be a wife and mother. Aprons are a symbol of "hearth and home". Their style can range from vintage lace for tea to sturdy canvas for arts and crafts. However, I wanted to design something especially unique. The result is the Strapless Hostess Apron. This item is designed specifically for special occasions, entertaining friends and family, holidays, or just serving your sweetheart.
"Created in the image of God, we are meant to brim over with creativity." (Beth Moore) Although Beth explains that this doesn't specifically mean "artsy craftsy" creativity, she does mean that "All image-bearers of God were intended to overflow with effervescent life, stirring and spilling with God-given vision." It was at the conclusion of a women's bible study series on the Proverbs 31 woman that this home based business was brought to bear. Sewing has been my creative outlet for two decades now and is usually accompanied by praise and worship music filling the sewing room while I busy myself at the sewing machine, the embroidery machine or the serger. I am usually covered in snippets of thread and singing completely off-key. But there is something so energizing about vocalizing praise to my Creator while I sit being creative. I ask you, is there any other creature on this planet that engages in the act of creativity simply for it's own sake other than mankind; the bearers of His image?
In versus 28 - 31 of Proverbs 31, the godly woman described is praised by her husband, praised by her children, and praised by her community. Let my sewing be a humble offering to you Lord, and bless the women I come in contact with as I witness to them about the way in which You have lifted my life out of a pit and finally, let each day in my work room be filled with a sacrifice of thanksgiving as I "sew full of praise" to you Lord, God.
